Any members of the OLRC community are welcome to attend this full-day, ‘roll-up our sleeves,’ working meeting to advance research teams’ work plans and emerging publications.

As part of the #NatureForAll Storytelling Festival, the Story Collider is thrilled to be putting on an evening of true, personal stories about science that focus on the love of nature and how that love inspires us toward conservation.

Positioned as a path towards transformation within the UN Ocean Decade, this session will examine how ocean literacy can be positioned as a mechanism for policy change. Key questions which will be discussed include exploring how ocean literacy can be communicated effectively to policy audiences so that funding streams and programmes of work relating to ocean literacy are supported.

Identified as one of the Ocean Literacy Research Community's key priority areas, this session will explore how the dual agendas of ocean literacy and the blue economy can be aligned (or not), including understanding how ocean literacy research can support sustainable coastal economies or can be used to encourage businesses to become more ‘ocean literate’. 

To truly realize ocean literacy with- and for- all, ongoing ocean literacy research must place justice, equity, diversity, and inclusivity at its core. This panel session will bring together speakers with experience and expertise to stimulate much needed discussion as to how we, as a global ocean literacy community, can ensure that justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion remain central to our research. 

The Ocean Literacy Research (OLR) café concludes a workshop series aimed at co-developing a global Ocean Literacy Research program for the Decade. The OLR Café will be hosted by four Ocean Literacy Research Community facilitators and will begin with a context-setting introduction followed by four Café chats before returning to a concluding plenary.

Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs) are the leaders who will see the Ocean Decade through to 2030 and shape the future of Canada's Blue Economy. Join ECOP Canada for a fun networking session and interactive workshop on how you and the diverse perspectives of fellow early career professionals can impact how we interact with the ocean during the Decade and beyond.

Join this interactive presentation on three different public opinion national studies recently done in the UK, Canada, and Brazil, as well as the 2015 (ongoing) International Ocean Literacy Survey. The aim, methodological approach, key findings, and next steps of these four studies will be discussed, followed by a lively discussion on the different dimensions of ocean literacy and ways to measure impact.

Join communications, media and educational technology experts from around the globe as we talk about how to reach and resonate with mass audiences on the ocean story. We will discuss amplifying ocean values, framing ocean messages, optimising technology and media, and how to ground our efforts in a research-led evidence-based approach.

This session will bring together researchers and practitioners interested in furthering the connection between ocean literacy research and climate action, including areas relating to behaviour change, adaptive capacity, and resilience.
